JETON NEZIRAJ - PRISHTINA. The Premeditated Killing of a Dream

D | Kurz nach dem Krieg im Kosovo übernahm der Architekt
und Stadtplaner Rexhep Luci die scheinbar unmögliche
Aufgabe, Ordnung in das Chaos des gesetzlosen
Prishtina zu bringen. Im Jahr 2000 wurde er am Eingang
seines Wohnhauses ermordet – ein bis heute unaufgeklärter
und bedrückender Anschlag der Nachkriegszeit.
Diese Performance will seine Geschichte wieder
ins Bewusstsein rufen – nicht als Nachruf, sondern als
Spiegel für eine Stadt, die weiter wächst, ohne Rücksicht,
Richtung oder Erinnerung. In den 25 Jahren seit Kriegsende
hat sich die Stadt Pristina in eine große Baustelle
verwandelt – vielleicht die größte Baustelle der Welt.
Eine parallele Geisterstadt ragt über ihr auf und bedroht
das Leben und die Zukunft

E | Shortly after the war in Kosovo, architect and urban
planner Rexhep Luci embarked on the seemingly impossible
mission of imposing order on lawless Pristina. In
2000, he was murdered at the entrance to his home in
a post-war attack that remains unsolved to this day and
continues to haunt the city. This performance aims to
raise awareness of his story—not as an obituary, but as a
reflection of a city that continues to grow unconsidered,
directionless and amnesiac. In the 25 years since the end
of the war, the city of Prishtina has transformed into a
large construction site – perhaps the biggest site on the
planet. A parallel, ghost city, looms over it, a threat to life
and the future.
